White Lamentations à 5

Award winning choir, SANSARA, team up with renowned viol consort Fretwork to present a programme of contemplative music reflecting on the Easter story by Arvo Pärt and Robert White.

While they were written centuries apart, both Pärt and White, in their different ways, convey the Holy Week liturgy with extraordinary intensity. Pärt’s haunting and ethereal Stabat Mater is presented in a new version for voices and viols, while Robert White’s justly-celebrated work laments
the ancient destruction of Jerusalem with masterly and powerfully expressive counterpoint.

“This partnership with the Fretwork was one of near-perfection, unforgettable, and one to watch”. John Hutchings
